You don’t need to have experience to volunteer, just a desire to help educate, engage, enrich, and inspire others! The OdySea Aquarium Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization that supports the work of OdySea Aquarium through education and conservation. Each role has its own specific requirements for shift times, hours of commitment, and essential duties, so please review carefully.
All Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age and satisfactorily complete a background check and drug screening. All necessary Volunteer training, including but not limited to – training for guest engagement, speaking on microphone, species knowledge, and equipment training will be provided onsite at OdySea Aquarium or the Arizona Boardwalk campus.

Education Volunteer: Gallery Guide
Gallery Guide Volunteers play a vital role in enhancing the guest experience at OdySea Aquarium or at other campus events through sharing knowledge with guests at interactive exhibits, biofact stations, live exhibit interpretations, and welcoming guests as they explore our different galleries. Volunteers engage with and educate guests on diverse animals and their habitats throughout OdySea Aquarium, while also teaching about conservation and sustainability.
• Time Requirement: 8 hours per month for at least a 3-month commitment.

Animal Care Volunteer: Bird & Mammal
Bird and Mammal Volunteers will be instrumental in supporting daily operations such as husbandry and cleaning, diet preparation, enrichment creation, and guest engagement. Volunteers will spend time alongside OdySea Aquarium Team Members in a supportive and supervised role with the opportunity to learn about diverse animals such as California sea lions, African penguins, Asian small-clawed otters, and other exotic bird and mammal species.

Animal Care Volunteer: Aquarist
Aquarist Volunteers will be active in supporting daily operations such as husbandry and cleaning, diet preparation, enrichment creation, and guest engagement. Volunteers will spend time alongside OdySea Aquarium Team Members in a supportive and supervised role with the opportunity to learn about diverse animals such as sharks, rays, invertebrates, and both freshwater and marine fishes and reptiles.
• Time Requirement: 8 hours per month for at least a 3-month commitment.

Animal Care Volunteer: Dive Operations
Dive Operations Volunteers will be influential in daily operations such as exhibit cleaning and maintenance, safety skill practices, husbandry, and guest engagement. Volunteers will spend time alongside OdySea Aquarium Team Members in a supportive and supervised role with the opportunity to dive alongside diverse animals such as sharks, rays, invertebrates, and both freshwater and marine fishes and reptiles.
• Prerequisites: Proof of Open Water certification from a recognized SCUBA agency.
• Time Requirement: 4 hours per month for at least a 6-month commitment.

Guest Relations Volunteer
Guest Relations Volunteers will play a key role in impacting every guest’s experience while they visit OdySea Aquarium through assistance with guest ingress and egress, ticketing, wayfinding, Deep Ocean Theater and OdySea Voyager operations, and aiding with large groups and special events.
• Time Requirement: 8 hours per month for at least a 3-month commitment.

Administrative Support Volunteer
Administrative Support Volunteers will aid various departments within OdySea Aquarium or OdySea Aquarium Foundation (including but not limited to) Human Resources, Maintenance & Facilities, Animal Care, and Animal Health through assistance with administrative tasks such as filing, organizing, and other projects.
• Time Requirement: 8 hours per month for at least a 3-month commitment.

Special Events Volunteer
Special Events Volunteers assist during seasonal, holiday, or other special events in OdySea Aquarium or the surrounding Arizona Boardwalk campus including guest ingress and egress, guiding vehicle traffic flow, ticketing, general event knowledge, and enhancement of the guest experience.
• Time Requirement: 8 hours per month for at least a 3-month commitment.

Business & Corporate Groups Volunteers
Business & Corporate Groups Volunteers are for companies or corporations seeking a one-time opportunity to provide philanthropic community support. These Volunteers may assist during seasonal, holiday, or other special events at OdySea Aquarium or the surrounding Arizona Boardwalk campus, including (but not limited to) event greeters, wayfinding support, guiding vehicle traffic, ticketing, housekeeping and vending responsibilities, and enhancement of the guest experience.
